I've been wanting to comment on a recent online discussion that mentioned rape, sexual harassment, public humiliation, men, and women, but haven't the mental fortitude to do it at the moment. Not many people read this, so repercussions are unlikely, but I don't have the interest in dealing with them at the moment anyhow.

In a completely unrelated direction...is Astonishing X-Men coming out quarterly or what? Wicked kewl famous authors are crap if it's 3 months between issues. I recently put away 6 or so months of comics. Uncanny X-Men (with Chris Claremont writing) - 7 issues. Astonishing X-Men - 3 issues (with Joss Whedon). That's not couting the 2 other series Chris writes - Excalibur and X-Men - The End.

Joss Whedon is probably behind in scripts because he has a lot of other sutff to do. Chris Claremont has been writing comics for 25 years, that's his job, he knows how to pace himself.

Also, Marvel has a high tolerance for late scripts from people that are drawing in readers by their names: Joss Whedon, Kevin Smith, etc.

The appeal of a big-name writer wears off, though, if said writer can't deliver a timely and professional story.

Plus, the latest one has a big farting hole in it. The tri-faced Sentinel that "Danger" (one of the lamest villains ever, btw) supposedly resurrects from the bay, was in other books sitting in the middle of Genosha city being remade into an image of Magneto - unless there are two, which I don't recall and isn't implied by the story.

I don't buy the whole "I'm a celebrity, I don't have to follow continuity or deadlines" argument. I think it's shoddy writing and unprofessional. If he can't deliver, then shelve it and come back when he can.

I like Joss's character devolpment but the overall story is kind of weak. "The Danger Room goes crazy and tries to kill everyone." Wasn't that the plot of most Star Trek episodes?

Forget Star Trek; he's ripping off the X-Men. Cerebro has already gone crazy and tried to kill the X-Men. What's next, Attack of the Kitchen Appliances?
